“Step Away” — A Song, A Memory, and A Ride for Dad

“One choice prevents risk. The other creates freedom.”
Some choices define us.
Some carry us forward.
Step Away began as a song I wrote in my mid-twenties — a quiet moment of reflection dedicated to my dad. Back then, it was something personal, never meant for release.
Years later, when the time came for his final farewell, I re-recorded it. Playing those notes that day was the hardest thing I’ve ever done, but it also brought peace — a reminder that music has the power to say what words never could.

Now, as I prepare to ride from Land’s End to John O’Groats, that same song has taken on new life. It’s no longer just about loss — it’s about legacy, freedom, and the road ahead.
Through Riding 4 Troops, I’m riding in his memory and raising funds for Help for Heroes — supporting those who’ve given so much for others. My dad taught me courage, resilience, and the value of taking the road less travelled. This journey is for him — and for everyone who’s ever had to “step away” from the safe path to find meaning.

Because some roads are worth the risk — and some songs never truly end.
Stay safe out there!
